By day I'm a digital communications manager and a mild-mannered editor. By night I chase stories surrounded by fifteen lakes, a bazillion and a half anglers and a whole lot of notorious history.
For over twenty years, my family (consisting of five kids, one scruffy construction guy husband, and a plethora of animals) lived just down the road from one of Al Capone's hideouts where he armored his cars. And we were just yards from a house of ill repute he owned. Creepy, right? He had already met his maker by the time we arrived on the scene. One day I'll chase that story.
I write fishy (or quirky, whatever floats your boat) Upmarket Fiction and children's stories with heart. I'm a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Women's Fiction Writers Association.
My writing has been published in several international anthologies and literary journals such as: Three Minus One: Parents' Stories of Love & Loss inspired by the film Return to Zero. I was also featured in Writers Digest Poetic Asides, Robert Brewer’s blog, in his “Why I Write Poetry” series.
I like a good thunderstorm with a side order of books (paper or digital) and a mug of piping hot coffee.
Connect with me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Pinterest. Or on my poetry blog: Writing On the Sun. And I'm tickled to death to announce that my manuscript Safe among the Roses won the 2019 Writer’s Digest November PAD Chapbook Challenge.
In 2020, I was a top five finalists: 2020 PAD Chapbook Challenge results. And earned an Honorable Mention the following two years.
By the way, if you need help with your own novel, head over to The Edit Gate. You'll find me there too.

“Love is surviving the harvest moon without falling to earth.” J. Lynn Sheridan
Have you ever pondered how your panorama of life went from idealism to cynicism? Are you being pulled under by the gathering clouds of disharmony?
In the midst of our doldrums and unease, we tend to overlook life's gifts.
Built upon the framework of her Writer’s Digest Poetic Asides 2019 Chapbook Award, Safe Among the Roses, J. Lynn Sheridan explores the growing bonds of connection and relationship with noetic reflection and lyrical emotion in this all-in-one-sitting read.
